Moeed Pirzada

Dr. Moeed Pirzada is currently (since Nov, 2008) Director World Affairs and lead Anchor for Dunya News Television, a role in which he has frequently interacted with national and international leadership and policy makers and has been invited to national, regional and international symposia on media and public policy issues. He has been instrumental in developing strategies that introduced a nascent Lahore based channel (Dunya News) to international limelight when in Oct 2009 channel upstaged state broadcasters and established media by hosting the US Secretary of State, Hilary Clinton’s interaction with Pakistani media. Previous to this role with Dunya News TV, he created and headed "International Desk" for the Geo TV Network (Sept, 2007-Nov, 08) and coordinated the network’s editorial team that debated, designed and developed GEO’s “ Code of Conduct” after the emergency of Nov, 2007 in which network emerged as the first media house in direct clash with the civil-military establishment.
Dr. Pirzada brings a diverse and inter-disciplinary background to electronic media. He graduated as a medical doctor from Punjab University (1988), has interned in Surgery & Medicine (1989-90), joined Civil Services of Pakistan in 1990 after standing 17th in the CSS of 1989, has worked as Assistant Collector and Deputy Collector in Karachi, Lahore, Gujranwala and Peshawar (1992-2000), worked in New York on UNDP’s research project, “Making Global Trade Work for People” (Earthscan: London, Virginia, 2003) and worked in London, UK as a public policy researcher, media consultant and television presenter. He assisted BBC with documentaries on Kashmir and South Asia (2003-2007) and was selected by Ford Foundation & British Foreign & Commonwealth Office amongst "Under Forty Leaders from South Asia" (2003) and has been invited to present papers and speak in International conferences and seminars in Pakistan, India, UK, USA, Korea and Turkmenistan. He was part of the Educational Task Force, organized by British Council of Pakistan that produced the “Next Generation Report, 2010” As a journalist he has covered the Non Aligned Summit in Havana and Strategic Dialogue between Pakistan and the United States from Islamabad and Washington and has actively followed Indo-Pakistani dialogues. He covered military operations in Swat (2009) and floods in Sindh (2010). He has been a member of the International Institute of Strategic Studies, London (IISS), Royal Institute of International Affairs, Chatham House, London (RIIA) and Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) between 2003 & 2007. He has been a columnist with Khaleej Times (2007-8) and his articles have appeared in The Dawn, The News, The Daily Times in Pakistan and the Guardian in UK (2002-7). His television programs are archived on websites like PK Politics, Awaz TV, and he is active in promoting debate through video clips on Face book.

He did his MBBS from University of Punjab (1988) and later studied International Finance & Economic Policy at School of International & Public Affairs, Columbia University, New York. (MIA, 2002) He has been a Britannia Chevening Scholar at London School of Economics & Political Science (MSc, 2003) where he studied “Media & Internet Regulations”


Talat Hussain
Syed Talat Hussain was executive director of AAJ Television and hosts the famous show Live with Talat. He writes for Newsline, Daily Dawn, Time Magazine, Daily Times (Pakistan), Daily Express and occasionally contributes to India Today. currently he is presenting program on dawn tv titled "news night with talat. Talat Hussain was born in journalist family.His family is basically from a village "Sarkaal", district Chakwal. He is younger brother of famous anchor and Analyst Dr. Riffat Hussain who works for News One and He is married to Tehmina Talat and has 3 children, a son, Shamil Talat and two daughters, Afza and Soughat. He lives in Islamabad.


Hamid Mir
(born July 23, 1966) is a Pakistani journalist and editor. He is also a news anchor, terrorism expert, and security analyst who regularly participates in international conferences. He is also known for his columns in Urdu, Hindi, Bengali, and English newspapers and hosts a popular political talk show on Geo TV with the name of Capital Talk. He was banned from TV by the military regime of General Pervez Musharraf in 2007. He was again banned by the Zardari-led Pakistan Peoples Party's (PPP) government in June 2008 Mir was born on July 23,1966 in Lahore, Punjab. He educated there and completed his Matric examination from University Laboratory School New Campus and Government Central Model School. He earned his intermediate degree from Government Science College and his Bachelor of Arts (B.A) degree from Government College. He earned his Master of Arts (M.A) in mass communications from the University of Punjab in 1989. He played cricket but left the sport after the sudden death of his father.


Resident Editor of Daily Ausaf London
Mr Habib-Ur-Rahman was born in Mirpur, Azad Kashmir Pakistan.
After finishing his education he went to Rawalpindi to join the Daily Taameer in 1956.
In 1957 he joined the Daily Jang.
In 1962 he took a major decision of his life by migrating to Birmingham, UK and unlike his fellow Pakistanis to pursue any business he chose to start publishing Asia Weekly, which was, a great service to his people in Europe.
Ever since then Mr Habib-Ur-Rahman has served Pakistanis abroad through different news papers and is at present the Resident Editor of The Daily Ausaf.
Mr Habib-Ur-Rahman has always and is still continuing to do so to put his strenuous efforts on behalf of his community before himself or of his personal interests, which is a worrying factor for his family and his friends as he now needs some rest from his busy schedules.

Zahoor Ahmad Niazi
Mr Zahoor Niazi was born on the 1st January 1945 in Kohat, Pakistan.
After getting his primary education in Kohat, Mr Niazi moved to Karachi in 1954 for his further education. In 1964,
He graduated from Islamia College and then gained his MA from Karachi University in 1968.
While studying at Karachi University Mr Niazi also worked for The Daily Hurriyet and then after completing his education he joined Daily Jasarat in 1970.
He worked for various other newspapers in Pakistan before taking a major decision to move to Britain on 19th April 1981 where he was offered the editorship of Daily Millat - London, but in just three months time publication of the Daily Millat was ceased due to a defamatory case which was already in the court when Mr Niazi joined the publication.
After the cessation of Daily Millat - London, Mr Niazi, worked for Centre for Pakistan Studies and Pakistan Press International, before joining The Daily Jang - London in 1983, where in 1992.
He was appointed as editor, the job he loved to do and is continuing to do so to present day.
Mr Zahoor Niazi believes that our community has achieved a great deal economically but, he believes, they need to invest time and effort into our children�s future.
They are daily living within the European culture outside the house, but it is the duty of the parents to spend more time with the children to educate them and make them aware of their culture and religion.
Mr Niazi believes that our print as well as electronic media should also double their efforts to educate our younger generation.

Wajid Shamsul Hasan
Mr Wajid Shamsul Hasan completed his MASTERS IN INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS in 1962, followed by Bachelor's degree in Law (BA LLB).
After completing his education in 1962, he formally joined Pakistan's biggest newspaper chain-�The Jang Group of Newspapers�.
He became Editor of its English newspaper �The DAILY NEWS� in early 1969.
He also edited J's English Weekly Magazine-�The Weekly MAG� from Karachi.
Earlier, in 1968, he did an extensive course for senior journalists in the United Kingdom after he was awarded the prestigious �COMMONWEALTH PRESS UNION SCHOLARSHIP�.
While he received his practical training in journalism at the �BRISTOL EVENING POST� and London's �EVENING STANDARD�.
He completed short academic courses at Oxford (Queen Elizabeth Hall) and Thomson Media Foundation at Cardiff.
In early 1989 he left �DAILY NEWS� to become �CHAIRMAN OF THE NATIONAL PRESS TRUST (NPT)�, largest conglomerate of more than 14 newspapers, magazines in Pakistan-both in English and Urdu languages, published from the four provinces including capital city of Islamabad.
He has visited Japan, Moscow, France, Germany (both sides when Berlin wall was still there), Turkey, Morocco, Spain, Italy, Denmark, Holland, Belgium, Scandinavian countries, New Zealand (as Pakistan's High Commissioner and member of Presidential team to attend the Commonwealth Summit 1995), Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, and Bangkok.
Mr Hasan has also travelled extensively all over Middle East.
In late March (2005) he was a participant at a conference on Middle East Plan held at Ben Gurion University, Be'er-Sheba organised by its Department of Middle Eastern Studies.
Mr Hasan is a prolific writer and a sought after commentator on South Asia and world affairs including Middle East.
He is invited by BBC TV channels, BBC radio, Sky, CNN, Zee TV, Middle Eastern TV channels, Ptv Prime, Ary Digital and other electronic and print media to share his views on the developing issues related to South Asia and Middle East.
Presently he is working on a number of books based on his experiences as a journalist and a diplomat.
In the context of Pakistan's domestic politics.
Mr Hasan is respected for his secular and liberal views and commitment to the cause of democracy and empowerment of the people especially women and minorities.
He has suffered at the hands of various administrations for his independent views.

Farhan Aslam
Farhan Aslam who has just joined DM Digital TV channel, Manchester as Head of News and Current Affairs, Head of Marketing and Sales. Farhan Aslam was born in Islamabad, Pakistan. Farhan Aslam actively participated in extra curricular activities and won more than 500 different speech contests, including All Pakistan Speech Contest. He also joined Scouting and won a number of awards including Quaid-e-Azam Scout, Chief Commissioner Award, and President of Pakistan Gold Medal.
After Matriculation he joined Islamabad College of Commerce. It was during his college years that he started writing poetry. He was the first student in the 20 year history of college to have been awarded College Colour. He was the Deputy Editor of the college Magazine. After finishing B.Com he joined a chartered accountants firm for C.A. In the mean time he started writing articles for different newspapers in Pakistan.
After his article-ship he travelled to the United Kingdom for further studies.
In the UK he joined mass media, and worked for different stations including Sunrise Radio and Asia 1 TV.
Farhan Aslam went back to Pakistan in 1995 and joined FM100 in Islamabad.
Farhan Aslam had the opportunity to air the very first Breakfast Show of 100FM in Pakistan.
Then he joined Pakistan Television as a host of the morning show (Roshan Pakistan).
Farhan Aslam also served Radio Pakistan for almost 4 years.
Farhan Aslam was among the senior most presenters on FM101 with AA category.
In the mean time he continued working for different national newspapers as a correspondent.
Before migrating to the UK, Farhan Aslam has worked for PTV News channel as a news reporter.


CEO Islam Channel
Mohamed Ali, alongside his BA in politics, has studied Philosphy, theology and comparative Islamic Jurisprudence (Fiqh) in addition to comparative fundamentals of belief (Aqeedah) in traditional schools of knowledge in Tehran. He is currently studying for a Phd in Islamic Political Thought.

Mr Ali has memorized a good portion of the Qur�an and has attended circles of prominent scholars in Tunisa.

As a British-born, award-winning journalist Yvonne Ridley is well known in the Muslim world for her outspoken views and defence of Islam. She endeared herself to the Muslim community in Britain when she reverted to Islam 30 months after making international headlines when she was captured by the Taleban on an undercover journalistic assignment in Afghanistan.

Sr Yvonne was Chief Reporter of the Sunday Express at the time, having spent nearly 10 years in Fleet Street working for several prestigious titles including The Sunday Times, The Observer, The Daily Mirror and The Independent on Sunday. She set out as a regional journalist nearly 30 years ago in her native North East. She has also worked as a broadcaster, producer and presenter on programmes for BBC TV and radio, CNN, ITN and Carlton TV travelling to Afghanistan, Iraq and Palestine.

A founder member of Women in Journalism, Sr Yvonne is a promoter of women's rights, and is also a founder member of the Stop The War Coaltion and the RESPECT political party. In her spare time Sr Yvonne travels throughout the UK and across the globe promoting peace and the anti-war message. She has also delivered lectures on issues relating to Iraq, Palestine, Afghanistan, Chechnya, Kashmir and Uzbekistan, Women in Islam, the War on Terror and Journalism at Ivy League universities across the US, Australia, South Africa and the Middle East.

Sr Yvonne is a founder member of the Friends of Islam, an All Party Parliamentary Group and a member of the National Union of Journalists and the Society of Authors. She has written two books called In The Hands of the Taleban and Ticket to Paradise and is currently writing and researching for two other titles including a biography of Usama bin Ladin. Sr Yvonne is a patron of the UK-based pressure groups Stop Political Terror and Hhugs. She also devotes much of her time to humanitarian work and is a Goodwill Ambassador for the charities Helping Hands and Doctors for Iraq.
